This is the first Seasonally Effected Podcast, recorded on the 27th February at the Dot Cafe in Rochester. Sadly, the sound quality isn’t great on this one, and for this reason I have decided to remove music performances (I had turned the sound desk up to high, so It sounded ok at the event, but the recordings were too distorted.) Anyway, hopefully will get it right for next time.

This podcast includes performances from: Sean AKA Mayhem of the MLT, Barry Fentiman, Nigel Adams, Phil Kane, Roy Smith and Mark Quinn - the music performances were by Stuart Turner and Nick Rice , Porlie Eidolon and 3D (Thomas Kelly and Dean Clarke.) There was also a short film called ‘Upwards’ from Mdhamiri A Nkemi which is available here: https://vimeo.com/57752310

As commented at the time, the line up could benefit from a touch more estrogen - which will hopefully be addressed at the next event on 27th March. If you would like to book a 10 minute spot, email me on: seasonallyeffected@gmail.com - for more information visit: www.seasonallyeffected.wordpress.com

As the danger passes and the panic settles, people adjust to their business. But in the corner of every eye is a suspicion that something will never be quite right. A nervous twitch at the bus stop, when a pigeon takes off in the rain or that sense so isolation as you are the last person to lock up. Horror lives sideways of this place, invisible, but never so far as cannot be felt or heard when the moment is right. Look around for long enough and you will find that which fuels us, we are an engine of fear – panicked into action, pumping raw emotion through crystallising veins and spewing out the sewerage of human error.

Sometimes, when the wind is right you can smell the rot seeping through the cracks in the ground. Down New Road or close to the river, where the crust is thin and the occasional tentacle breaches the surface. We keep it quiet, don’t like to talk about it, but no matter how they patch it up, we all know it will eventually devour us all. In the meantime its best to get on with it, forget those troublesome headaches and nasty nose bleeds, its normal, isn’t it?

Welcome to the ME4 Writers Short and Nasties podcast. This is the first of three shows exploring the darker side of the Medway Towns.

These tales are as the flicker of an amber street light on rain soaked tarmac, the remnants of peeling posters on boarded up shop fronts. This is for all the alleyways that made you look backwards and trees that scratch against your window late at night. Imagine a settlement on the banks of a cruel river, never meant for habitation, but suffered with an indignant rage. Refusing to move on and digging deeper into the heart of the beast, we struggle for sense in a time of constant opposition. Then in the silent places; on the roofs of car parks, towering above and locked in buried tunnels deep below they wait for whats to come.

Starting from the site of the old police station, on the corner of Cazeneuve Street. Follow Victoria Street to the bottom of Star Hill. Walk the length of the High Street then turn left along the Esplanade and walking up the steps to the Castle Gardens. Leave by the Epaul gate and head down towards the Cathedral then follow the road around towards the Terrace and up past the Kings Orchard gate to the Vines.

Walk at a steady pace neither rushing or daudling and participate in a shifting experience, as the words sync into the landscape providing a something different for every person and time the walk is taken.
